4 measures
Whimsy is a privacy-first WeTransfer alternative for sending large video files. Clients get a branded download link served straight from the storage you already own — no 2 GB email cap, no per-GB transfer bill, no account on their end. Your footage is never staged on a transfer company's servers, never scanned for metadata, and never eligible to train anyone's AI model. You set the password, expiry, and download cap per send.
Plate 01·How it works
A WeTransfer alternative that runs on your storage.
- Frame 01
Send straight from your own storage
Your client gets a branded download link — no account needed — served from the Dropbox or S3 you already use. No squeezing a huge file through email or a transfer service.
- Frame 02
No 2 GB limit, no per-GB bill
There's no email-style size cap and no pay-per-GB middleman. You send from storage you already own, so the practical limit is the space you have — and quality stays intact.
- Frame 03
Return uploads + controls
Add a password, an expiry date, and download caps per delivery. Return-uploads let the client send footage back to you through the same link.
Your footage, your storage
Big files shouldn't mean handing them to a transfer company.
Transfer services upload your footage to their servers and bill by the gigabyte. Whimsy sends from the storage you already own, so raw footage and 4K deliverables go straight to your client without a per-GB charge — and without a third party keeping a copy. Add return-uploads and your client can send selects or notes back through the same link.
Password, expiry, and download caps on every delivery.
Plate 02·Side by side
Sending big files, compared.
Uploads your footage to their servers and bills by the gigabyte. Whimsy delivers from storage you already own — no per-GB charge.
Built for big files but still a pay-per-GB middleman. Whimsy has no transfer bill and your footage never hits a third-party server.
Hard 25 MB cap and no controls. Whimsy sends files of any size with passwords, expiry, and download caps on every delivery.

Questions, answered
- How do I send large video files to clients?
- Send a branded download straight from the storage you already own — your client gets a link, with no account needed — instead of squeezing a huge file through email or a transfer service.
- Is there a file size limit?
- There's no 2 GB email-style limit and no pay-per-GB middleman. You send from your own storage, so the practical limit is the space you already have.
- Does the quality stay intact?
- Yes — files are delivered as-is from your storage. Nothing is re-compressed or downscaled on the way to the client.
- Do my clients need an account?
- No — they click the link and download. You can add a password, an expiry date, and download caps per delivery.
- Is this a WeTransfer or MASV alternative?
- Yes — the same "send big files" job, but the files live in your own storage and aren't uploaded to a transfer company's servers, and there's no per-GB bill.
- Can clients send footage back to me?
- Yes — return-uploads let a client upload files to you through the same delivery, so the round trip stays in one place.
- Do the download links expire?
- You control expiry and download limits on each delivery, so a link can be one-time, time-boxed, or open as long as you like.
- Is it free?
- It's free to send large files while we're in early access.
