Whimsy is a multi-cloud file manager: it connects all your cloud storage accounts — Dropbox, OneDrive, S3, and more — into one app where you can browse, search, and move files across every account without migrating anything. Manage multiple cloud storage accounts as one library, with duplicate finding, versioned backup, and client delivery built in. Works in the browser and as a native desktop app.
Plate 01·How it works
One window for every account.
- Frame 01
Connect your accounts
Sign in to each cloud with secure OAuth or keys — Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, S3 and more — and add your NAS or your own computer too. Connect as many as you want.
- Frame 02
See them as one library
Whimsy builds a single browsable, searchable view across every account. Nothing is moved or copied — your files stay in the accounts they already live in.
- Frame 03
Work across all of them
Search, move, de-duplicate, deliver, and back up — across every cloud and drive, from one window instead of a dozen browser tabs.
The problem
Your files live in a dozen logins.
Work Drive, personal Drive, the client's Dropbox, a OneDrive you forgot about, an S3 bucket, and a drive on the desk. Finding anything means remembering which account it's in and logging into each one. There's never one place that shows you everything you own — until you put a layer over all of it.
One library. Every account.
Plate 02·Side by side
A do-it-all MultCloud alternative.
Moves files between clouds but has no duplicate finder, versioned backup, or branded delivery. Whimsy does all of it from one window.
Mounts clouds as native drives but offers no cross-cloud transfers, no de-duplication, and no client delivery. Whimsy adds every layer on top.
Desktop-only cross-cloud explorer — no de-duplication, no versioned backup, no client delivery. Whimsy is the do-it-all layer.

Questions, answered
- Do I have to move my files into Whimsy?
- No. Whimsy connects to the cloud accounts you already have and shows them as one library — your files stay in Dropbox, OneDrive, and the rest. Nothing is migrated or copied.
- What's the best way to manage multiple cloud storage accounts in one place?
- Use a multi-cloud manager that layers over the accounts you already pay for instead of forcing a migration. Whimsy connects all your clouds and drives into one browsable, searchable library, so you stop logging into a dozen services to find one file.
- How is this different from MultCloud?
- MultCloud is web-only and routes transfers through its own service. Whimsy works in the browser and as a native desktop app, transfers byte-direct between providers, and adds the jobs MultCloud doesn't — duplicate finding, versioned backup, and branded client delivery.
- Is there a free MultCloud, CloudMounter, or Air Explorer alternative?
- Whimsy is free while we're in early access, with every feature unlocked and no credit card. It combines what those tools do separately — unified browsing, cross-cloud transfers, and more — in one app that runs on the web and the desktop.
- Can I transfer files between Google Drive and Dropbox without downloading them?
- Yes. For cloud-first pairs — Dropbox to OneDrive, Dropbox to Backblaze, and so on — Whimsy streams files byte-direct between the providers, checksum-verified, so a large project never round-trips through your laptop or your home internet. Google Drive connects through the Whimsy desktop app, so a Drive transfer runs on your own machine — and even then your files and logins never touch Whimsy's servers.
- Does Whimsy mount cloud storage as a local drive?
- Not as an operating-system drive like CloudMounter. Whimsy gives you a unified file browser across every account in the web app and the desktop app, so you can search and move files everywhere without mounting each cloud or installing a separate tool per service.
- Can I connect more than one account of the same service?
- Yes — connect as many Dropbox or OneDrive accounts as you need, mixing work and personal, and browse them side by side in one library.
- Is my data safe with a multi-cloud manager?
- Whimsy is a control layer, not a second cloud — your files stay in your accounts. Connection credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, never logged, and disconnecting an account purges its tokens immediately.
- Which cloud storage and drives does it connect?
- Dropbox, OneDrive, Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, plus WebDAV, SFTP, FTP, NAS — and your own computer via the desktop connector.
