    How Pedagogy shows up on the MPT

    Pedagogy questions are sprinkled across the test and account for a meaningful share of total marks. Each one shows a classroom situation — a student's written work, a teacher choosing between two activities, a sequence of lessons — and asks which option best supports learning.

    There is no single right answer to teaching, but the MPT rewards responses grounded in the Concrete-Representational-Abstract progression, in diagnostic listening to student reasoning, and in choosing representations that surface the underlying mathematical structure rather than hide it.

    Strong preparation in this strand comes from reading sample student work with a critical eye: not "is this right?" but "what is this student thinking, and what would I do next?"     Common pitfalls
