Preparing for the Ontario Mathematics Proficiency Test (MPT) involves more than just studying math concepts. One practical challenge many teacher candidates face: Where exactly do I take the test?

Today, we are launching a new GEO feature in Numera that makes finding your EQAO test center effortless.

    The Problem

EQAO administers the MPT at 10 designated test centers across Ontario. Until now, candidates had to:

    1. Search through EQAO official documentation
    2. Manually cross-reference addresses with their location
    3. Contact centers individually for availability

It worked, but it was not convenient—especially for candidates in rural areas or those unfamiliar with Ontario geography.

    The Solution: TestCenterFinder

Numera now includes a built-in TestCenterFinder that shows all 10 official EQAO test centers in one place.

    What it does:

    • Browse all 10 centers — See every official EQAO MPT testing location
    • Regional filtering — Filter centers by geographic region (Northern, Eastern, Central, Western, Southern Ontario)
    • Instant contact info — Tap-to-call phone numbers with sanitized tel: links
    • Accessibility built-in — aria-live regions for screen readers, proper aria-labels on all interactive elements

    The 10 EQAO Test Centers

    RegionCenter
    NorthernThunder Bay
    EasternOttawa, Kingston
    CentralToronto (2 locations), Mississauga
    WesternHamilton, London, Windsor
    SouthernBarrie, Peterborough

    Each center entry includes:

    • Full address
    • Direct phone link
    • Region classification for filtering

    Accessibility Matters

We built this feature with accessibility in mind from day one:

    • aria-live regions — Screen readers announce dynamic content changes when you filter centers
    • Sanitized tel: links — Phone numbers use proper, safe URI formatting
    • aria-labels — Every button and filter has clear, descriptive labels for assistive technology

This is not just about compliance—it is about ensuring every Ontario teacher candidate can access this information, regardless of how they navigate the web.

    How to Use It

    1. Open Numera
    2. Navigate to Test Centers in the navigation
    3. Optionally filter by your region
    4. Tap any center to see full details and contact options

No signup required. Works offline after your first visit (like everything else in Numera).

    Why This Matters

Finding your test center should not be harder than preparing for the test itself. This feature removes one more logistical hurdle from your MPT journey.

Combined with our existing practice tools—mock exams, strand-specific drills, and pedagogy questions—you now have a complete preparation experience in one place.

    What is Next

This is our first GEO-enabled feature. We are exploring:

    • Distance calculation — Show how far each center is from your location
    • Booking integration — Direct links to EQAO registration system
    • Travel time estimates — Help candidates plan their test day logistics

    Stay tuned for updates.
